Match Day 13 (November 14th 2021) Report

NUNEATON & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE  

Grendon took to the road in the BCFA Roger Wood Memorial Cup, with a visit to Dudley Rangers from the Sutton & District Sunday League. Grendon quickly found their stride and after James Yardley had one ruled out in the first half, Charlie Barritt opened the scoring on 43 minutes. 

The game was sent to penalty kicks when Dudley equalised on 80 minutes. In the shootout penalties from Luke Tyler, Charlie Barritt, James Yardley and Lee Chapman saw Grendon book their place in Round 2 

Poplar Athletic closed the gap on Bond Street Trophies Premier One leaders Grendon to three points after they beat Fuzzy Duck 4-0. Ross Proudlock chipped in with two of the Poplar goals, Danny Taylor, and Sam Reader the others. Drayton stay third thanks to their 3-2 win over Lamb & Flag while Ryan Slinn and Keenan Palmer both scored twice for Hartshill Sports in their 5-1 win over Haunchwood Sports. Mark Williams scored the other Hartshill goal. Ridge Lane leap frogged over Witherley United as they ran out 4-0 winners. Connor McKeown scored two of the Ridge Lane goals, Jake Warmington and Lewis Commins the others. 

Eliot Chamberlain’s hat trick for Chetwynd Phoenix helped them to a 5-3 win over Bedworth Travellers in EJ Group Ltd Division One. Jack Norman and Tyler Rowe added the singles. Leaders Drayton Res slip up further after they were beaten 3-1 by Rogue Elite, Elite goals from Ben Bates (2) and Kevin McEwan Jack Web replied for Drayton Res 

Hansom Cabs and Griff & Coton Manor occupy 2nd and 3rd places  after victories over Saunders and Bedworth Liberals, respectively. 

Whitestone increased their lead at the top of Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two to seven points thanks to their 6-1 win over Athletico Duke. Adam Barber scored two of the Whitestone goals, Jenson Newey, Daniel Hall, Todd Loveitt and Rob Ison scored the others. Connor Pugh replied for Athletico. Dylan Ashfield and Taylor Blyth both scored twice for Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors in their 7-1 win over Royal Athletic to move into second spot. Jamie Matthews, Joe McLintock, and Jack Burchell added the others. Crows Nest Sports moved up to fourth spot after they beat Bedworth Liberals Res 6-1. Conor Beasley’s brace helped Barwell Cricketers to a 4-1 win over Ashby Road Sports. Liam O’Rourke scored one of their goals. 

Liam Potter scored five times for Attleboro FC as they went on to beat Haunchwood Sports Res 6-0 in Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Division Three. Jacob Bryan scored their other goal to move them up a place. Ryan Moore, Travis Atkins, and Luke Moore all found the net for Attleboro Sports as they beat Red Lion Sapcote 3-1. 

White Hart moved into third spot in Raihan’s Indian Takeaway Division Four with a 3-1 win over Phoenix Utd. Kye Wilson, Lee Oddy and Declan Merry all found the net for White Hart. 

Tarro Lounge Caterpillar were to strong for New Baron Lions, in a 7-0 win, with goals from Scott Goodenough (3), Nathan Turner (2) and David Thomas-Catalan. 

Grendon Res remain the only team with a 100% record, edging Bedworth Bank in an exciting tussle. Griff & Coton Manor Res came out on top at Bermuda Park 3-1, with goals from Garry Harris, Adam gales & Andy Walkden, Ryan Healey replied for Park. 

Goals from Harry Davies and Denzil Richards saw Coniston Tavern overcome Conny Panthers 2-0
