Well, the Tribune Challenge Cup is back with a bang, after a two-year absence due to the Covid 19 Pandemic with a number of shocks and surprises.

Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors pulled off a second-round shock in the Tribune Cup when they beat Premier Division leaders Grendon 3-2. After going 2-0 down to goals from Luke Tyler and James Yardley, the division two promotion chasers hit back through a Jamie Matthews brace and a single from Luke Matthews to move into the third round.

Another Premier team, Fuzzy Duck came unstuck against Division 4 new boys, Bermuda Park in another shock - Lewis Davis opened the scoring direct from a corner, before the Duck levelled before the break. Ashley Mantack saw the newcomers home 2-1 notching the winner with fifteen minutes remaining.

Lewis Gudger and Connor Gudger both scored twice for Witherley Utd as they beat Stoneycroft Utd 8-1. Shaun Clarke, Kieran Graham, Brad Jenkins, and Sebastian Beale added the others. Division One highflyers, Hansom Cabs caused an upset when they beat Premier Division Ridge Lane 1-0.

Reece Rawlings scored both goals for Royal Athletic, but they proved to be consolations when opponents Whitestone ran out 11-2 winners. Swan Dive missed out of progress into the next round when they were beaten 4-0 by Griff & Coton Manor with goals from Jack Price (2), Ryan Bell and Michael Measham.
Chris Camwell scored twice for Trent Valley as they beat Bedworth Bank 4-0. Michael Sadler and Sam Forsyth scored the others.

In the few league games played, two goals from Connor Beasley helped Barwell Cricketers to a 5-3 win over Crows Nest Sports and a move up the table in Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two. Tom Duplock, Nathan Yeoman and Jack Smith scored their other goals. SS Bulls Head and Ashby Road Sports shared the points as they drew 0-0.

In Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Division Three, Sunnyside Inn drew level on points with leaders Trent Valley after they beat CJ’s Athletic 7-1. Steve Pywell and Luke Taylor both scored twice for Sunnyside, Corey Cousins, Phil Edwards and Kevin Tuff added the others.

Conny Panthers moved into mid table in Raihan’s Indian Takeaway Division Four after they beat Red Lion Barwell 4-2. Jack Purkiss scored twice for Panthers, Casey Simons, and Alex Taylor the others. Riley Roxon and Macaulay Fellows replied for Red Lion.
