BEDWORTH BANKS ADVENTURE ENDS !
Bedworth Bank’s fairy-tale run came to an end in the Birmingham Sunday Amateur Cup in the sunshine at Nicholas Chamberlaine, going down 3-1 to Birmingham based AFC Coalshed. Having taken the lead early in the second half through Alex Cullen, Coalshed fought back to take a 2-1 advantage. With two minutes remaining the Bank were awarded a penalty, but luck was not with them penalty missed and Coalshed breaking away to make it 3-1. Well done Bank in this their first season.

Grendon reached the semi-finals of the BCFA Roger Wood Memorial Cup for the first time after beating one of the fancied teams to win the competition, VIP International. Luke Tyler gave Grendon the lead against their hosts from Edgbaston before VIP levelled the scored in the final 20 minutes to send the game into a penalty shoot-out. Keeper Jake Grogan then became the hero with two excellent saves leaving Lee Chapman to score to take Grendon through.

The top three sides in EJ Group Ltd Division One all won this week Rogue Elite, with Dan Faulkner (2), Jack Joyce (2) with single from Will Fox & Ben Bates staying two points in front thanks to a 6-1 win over Bedworth Liberals. Jes Adcock, Jake Gardner and Ryan Cheshire all scored twice for Hansom Cabs as they went on to beat Chetwynd Phoenix 9-1 to stay in second while Drayton Res completed the trio with a 2-0 win over Bedworth Travellers, with goals from Alex Rowe and Jack Horton.

Barwell Cricketers were another team to scored eight goals as they beat Bedworth Liberals Res 8-0 in Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance division Two. Tom Duplock led the way with a hat trick, Jordan Armstrong 2, Jake Armstrong, Connor Beasley, and Matt Pratt added the others. Jake Edwards bagged a hat trick for Whitestone as they beat Swan Dive 3-0 to stay seven points clear at the top. Ash Piper and Dylan Ashfield both found the net for second placed Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors as they beat SS Bulls Head 2-0. Damien Pierce, Craig Harris, Darren Burrage and Paul Johnson all found the net for Acorn as they beat Ashby Road Sports 4-2. Mitch Gaskin and Craig Chatburn scored the Ashby goals. Crows Nest Sports and Royal Athletic shared the points in a 0-0 draw.

Danny Winterbotham and Riley Poxon were also players to net a New Year hattrick and help their team, Red Lion Barwell to 10-1 win over Lamb & Flag Res. Luke Newton 2, Dylan Atwood, and Danny Stewart completed the Red Lion scoring, Jonathan Bates scored the Lamb & Flag consolation.
