Match Day 21 (January 23rd 2022) Report



Attleborough Sports Res, from Division Four, reached the semi-final of the Pete Smith Memorial Cup  thanks to a 4-3 win over Haunchwood Sports Res. Charlie Watts netted a hat trick for Attleboro to help edge past their division three opponents. Ewan Scott added the other. Haunchwood's goals came from Sam Laight, Kyle Olner and Jake Wilson. They will now play Lamb & Flag Res for a place in the final. 

The Haunchwood first team also went down 4-3 as they took on Hartshill Sports in the second round of the Tribune  Challenge Cup. Jude Barnett, Toby Bartram, Aden Moore, and Harry Everitt all found the net for Hartshill. Andy Evans 2 and Mark Williams replied for Haunchwood. 

The two matches in the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division produced fourteen goals with Frank Parker and Fuzzy Duck sharing eight of them. Brady Middleton helped himself to a hat trick for Fuzzy Duck, Alex Moore scored the other. Liam Watts 2, Antonio Williams, and Kyle Crawford replied for Frank Parker. Connor McKeown scored twice for Ridge Lane as they went on to beat Drayton 4-2. Sam Gibbs and Alex Naughton supplied the singles, with a Jack Colley brace for Drayton. 

In EJ Group Ltd Division One, Hansom Cabs closed the gap on leaders Rogue Elite after they beat Griff & Coton Manor 4-0, with goals from Jake Gardner, Jake Brown, Charlie Adcock and Cam Brannan. Third placed Drayton Res remain two points further back thanks to  a late winner against Chetwynd Phoenix 3-2, the goal coming from Jack Bonner (2) and Jack Boffin, with Eliot Chamberlain and Dean Laws replying for the Phoenix. 

Bedworth Liberal moved off the bottom thanks to a 6-2 win over Saunders. They replace Bedworth Conservatives who went down 3-0 to Bedworth Travellers, with goals from Connor Kendall (2) and Connor Corden. 

Whitestone now have a six-point cushion at the top of Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two after they came from behind to beat Barwell Cricketers 3-2. Liam Elliott (2) and Jack Edwards on target with Liam Ellis and Tom Duplock scoring the Barwell goals. Second placed Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors were held to a 3-3 draw by Athletico Duke. Dylan Ashfield 2 and Jamie Matthews scored the Collycroft goals, Connor Pugh 2 and Jody Green replied for Athletico. Jack Rowley and Josh Walton both found the net for Acorn as they went on to beat Ashby Road Sports 2-1 to stay in third spot. Nick Richardson scored the Ashby Road goal. Bedworth Bank are two points further back in fourth thanks to their 4-1 win over Swan Dive, the goals coming from James Rooke, Kye Smith, Reece Rawlings and Alec Cullen. 

Lewis Dunkley scored the only goal of the game for SS Bulls Head as they overcame Crows Nest Sports 1-0 to move into fifth spot. 

A brace from Liam Potter and singles from Steve Thomas, Scott Hall and Ryan Potter helped Attleborough FC to a 5-2 win over Red Lion Sapcote. Jacob Pears 2 replied for Red Lion. 

CJ’s Athletic picked up their first league win of the season after they beat Attleboro Sports 7-2. The goals coming from James Smith (3), Brandon Watkins (2), James Daffern and Matt Ludlow, with Ethan Cousins (2) on target for the Sports. 

Grendon Res had their lead at the top of Raihan’s Indian Takeaway Division Four trimmed to six points after they were held to a 1-1 draw with Conny Panthers. Charlie Gilks scored the Grendon goal, Jack Purkiss replied for Conny Panthers. Second placed Coniston enjoyed a 6-1 win over Griff & Coton Manor Res while Chris Dawe’s brace and a single from Kyle Wilson helped White Hart FC to a 3-0 win over Red Lion Barwell. 

Bedworth Bank Res and Lamb & Flag Res shared the points in a 1-1 draw, with goals from James Harris for the home team and Kenneth Fenton relying for the Lamb.
