NDSFL WEEKLY REPORT (MATCH DAY 28)

GRENDON'S ADVENTURE COMES TO AN END

Grendon welcomed Codsall Legion Sundats from Wolverhampton to Boot Hill on Sunday, in the Semi-Final of the  BCFA Roger Wood Memorial Cup.
 

The game started at a frantic pace before Sundats opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a crisp finish. The away side pushed forward and on 20 minutes were awarded a penalty, when a 20 yard screamer was handled on the line, resulting in a red card for the offence. Although the penalty was superbly saved by keeper Jake Grogan, the 10 men of Grendon were then no match for an in form Sundats, who finished the job in a professional manner. 

Grendon can be proud of their achievements in this County wide premier competition, and for being excellent ambassadors for all associated with the NDSFL – Well Done !! 

Athletico Duke are through to the semi-finals of the Brian Dowsett Memorial Cup after they Beat their Division Two rivals SS Bulls Head 6-2. Duke raced into a 4-0 held time before Bulls Head fought back after the break. Lee Lovett scored twice for Duke with singles coming from Nathan Goddard, Matt Ellis, Connor Pugh, and Jacob Townsend. Josh Atkinson’s curling set piece and Darren Page’s goal from 30 yards made up the Bulls Head reply. Trent Valley earned their place in the quarterfinals of the same competition thanks to their 2-1 win over Ambleside. Michael Sadler and Joe Joe Wilson scoring their goals. 

Fuzzy Duck came from 2-0 down against Poplar Athletic to eventually draw level and win 3-2 on penalties in the Premier Division Challenge Cup. Brady Middleton and Alex Moore both found the net for Fuzzy Duck.

 

Attleborough FC were 4-1 winners against Chase FC in the League Three Challenge Trophy. 10-man Chase took a first half lead but second half goals from Steve Pywell, Ryan Potter, Ash Tandy, and Alex Lock secured the win.  Ash Clarke and Denzil Richards both scored twice for Coniston Tavern as they beat Tarro Lounge Caterpillar 6-2 in the Division Four Challenge Trophy. Jonathan Bowen and Daniel Devall added the Coniston singles, Eliot Percival and Nathan Turner replied for Tarro Lounge. 


Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors take over at the top of Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two but had to come from 3-1 down against Barwell Cricketers before winning 4-3. Connor Beasley’s hat trick for Barwell gave them the lead but goals from Chris Camwell 2, Kyle Carey, and a late winner from Ashley Piper, secured the three points. 

Whitestone drop to second after they were held to a 1-1 draw with Ashby Road Sports. Dave Ison came off the bench to score the Whitestone goal, Matt Mangiante found the net for Ashby Road. George Arnold scored twice; Steve Hall added the other as Crows Nest Sports beat Bedworth Bank 3-2. 

Phoenix Utd moved into fourth spot in Raihan’s Indian Takeaway Division Fouthanks to a 3-0 win over Lamb & Flag Res.  Bermuda’s 6-0 win over Griff & Coton Manor Res with goals from Ashley Mantack, Ryan Healy, Cameron Greenhough, Sulav Khadka, Dan Morris and Lewis Davis consolidates their mid table position.  A Luke Newton’s brace and singles from Danny Winterbotham and Alfie Parry secured all three points for Red Lion Barwell in a 4-2 win over Attleboro Sports Res.
