Match Day 8 (October 10th 2021) Report

NUNEATON & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE 

Grendon Res have made a flying start to their Raihan’s Indian Takeaway Division Four. This week they recorded a 10-1 win over New Baron Lions for a fifth straight win. Jamie Kings bagged three of the goals, Lee Grogan another two. Despite that they sit a point off top spot, which is held by Coniston Tavern who beat Griff & Coton Manor Res 5-0. Tarro Lounge Caterpillar consolidated their mid table slot after they beat Lamb & Flag Res 5-2. Jonathan Bates and Corben Darby scored the Lamb & Flag goals. John Gurung and Jake Saville both found the net for Bermuda Park, but they had to share the points in a 2-2 draw with Phoenix Utd. Josh Smith and Matt Vinham replied for Phoenix. 

In Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, Grendon maintained their six-point lead at the top and completing six wins from six, as they beat Witherley United 3-1, Charlie Barritt and Luke Tyler all found the net for Grendon, Marcus Cooper replied for Witherley. Hartshill Sports stay in second thanks to their 3-2 win over Lamb & Flag, while Drayton’s 4-3 win over Fuzzy Duck moves them into sixth. Mark Williams scored twice for Haunchwood Sports as they drew 2-2 with Ridge Lane. 

The top three in EJ Group Ltd. Division One all drew with two of them facing each other. Leaders Rogue Elite and third placed Griff & Coton Manor failed to trouble the scorers drawing 0-0. Second placed Drayton Res did find the net three times but so did Bedworth Liberals, as they drew 3-3. Bedworth Conservatives also drew 3-3 as they took on Saunders. 

Whitestone increased their advantage at the top of Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two to four points after they beat Crows Nest Sports 8-1. Jack Edwards led the way with four goals, Gavin Henderson’s man of the match performance capped with a hat trick, Todd Loveitt added the single. Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors moved in second spot courtesy of their 4-0 win over Ashby Road Sports. Kyle Aubrey scored two of their goals, Idris Wassa and Danny Hollywood the others. Royal Athletic came from 2-0 down against Barwell Cricketers to eventually win 6-2 to take fourth spot. Tom Pountney scored twice for Royal Oak, both free kicks, Reece Rawlings also bagged a brace, Kieran McCurly and sub-Aaron Carvall added the singles. Jody Green scored both goals in Athletico Duke’s 2-0 win over Bedworth Liberals Res, while a Sam Jones hat trick and two from Joe Smith Walker helped Chetwynd Phoenix to a 5-0 win over Stoneycroft Utd. Joh Garrett, Paul Johnson, Jordan White and Steven Merry all found the net for Acorn as they came from a goal behind to beat SS Bulls Head 4-3. The winner coming in the last 5 minutes. Lewis Alleston had given Bulls Head the early lead, a Lewis Dunkley penalty and another goal from Connor Bates completed their scoring. 

Ambleside are top of Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Division Three after they beat Attleboro Sports 2-1. Sunnyside are up to fourth thanks to their 8-2 win over LNFC 18. Luke Taylor scored four of the Sunnyside goals, Steve Pywell scored two more. Corey Cousins and Aidan Waters the singles. Trent Valley also won 8-2 as the beat Attleboro FC. Ryan Potter was among the Attleboro scorers. Louis Stowe and Reece Grant both found the net for CJs, but they lost 4-2 to Haunchwood Sports Res.
