Match Day 9 (October 17th 2021) Report

NUNEATON & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE 

The 1st Round of the Tribune Cup Sponsored by Stuart Plumbing Supplies took place this week with the competition making a welcome return after being cancelled for the last two seasons because of the Covid restrictions imposed on local football. 

Bermuda Park were the days top scorers but had to come from behind twice in the first half before running away with it in the second and beat LNFC 18 10-2. Afar Limbu and Ryan Healy both scored twice, Ben Butler, Stu Pearson, Hayden King, Abdullah Sheikh, Dipen Gurung and Jake Saville added the singles. Chris Camwell bagged four goals for Trent Valley as they beat Sunnyside Inn 6-2. Regan Duffy ad Daniel Cassidy scored the others. 

Liam Eliot and Jack Edwards both scored twice for Whitestone as they beat Attleboro Sports 5-2. Brandon Hook scored the other Whitestone goal. Adam Hearn also scored twice, this time for Barwell Cricketers, but they eventually went down 5-2 to Collycroft Royal Oak Warriors. James Harris collected a double for Bedworth Bank as they booked a round two place with a 5-0 win over CJ’s Athletic. Joe Joe Wilson, David Orton, and sub-Mason McCurry completed the scoring. Nathan McInnes and Declan McCauley both found the net for Swan Dive as they beat Phoenix Utd 2-0, while Alex Franklin, Aaron Moore and Ryan Oswald all found the net for Stoneycroft Utd as they beat Coniston Tavern 3-0.

Ryan Bell scored twice for Griff & Coton Manor as they progressed thanks to a 6-0 win over Red Lion Sapcote. Andrew Ratcliffe, Michael Meacham, Perry Tonks, and Joe Betteridge completed the scoring. Kaine Finch and Lewis Alleston both found the net for SS Bulls Head but eventually went down 7-2 to Bedworth Travellers. 

Grendon now have a nine-point lead at the top of Bond St Trophies Hinckley Premier One thanks to a 3-0 win over Ridge Lane. Charlie Barritt, James Yardley, and Luke Tyler all found the net for the leaders. Poplar take over third spot thanks to their 2-1 win over Frank Parker while Witherley occupy fourth place after they drew 3-3 with Haunchwood Sports. Reece Johnson, Jordan Coles, and Connor Gudger scored the Witherley goals. Fuzzy Duck also drew 3-3 as they took on Drayton. Lee Waters bagged a couple for Fuzzy Duck, Todd Howley the other. 

Drayton Res have a six-point lead at the top of EJ Group Ltd Division One after they beat Chetwynd Phoenix 4-3. Aaron Wickett, Eliot Chamberlain, and Ethan Meadows scored the Chetwynd goals. 

Grendon Res are now top of Raihna’s Indian Takeaway Division Four after two goals from Lee Grogan and singles from Steve Jakovlevs and Jack Burrows gave them a 4-1 win over Attleboro Sports Res.
