Weekly Report - Sunday November 1st 2020

Match Week 9

All change at the top of Cannon Sports Premier One with Drayton now topping the table after they beat FC Atack 4-3. Jack Colley scored two of the FC Atack goals, Steve Merry the other. Frank Parker and Ridge Lane are second and third with both having identical playing records. Frank Parker beat Polar Athletic, who drop to fourth spot, 7-2 with Leroy Lita bagging a hat trick. Harry Jackson 2, Liam Stringer and Antonio Williams scored the others. Ky Green scored twice for Ridge Lane as they went on to beat Weddington Thistle 6-3. Jake Warmington, Connor McEwan, Luke Purkiss and Alex Naughton scored the others. 

Witherley have a healthy lead at the top of EJ Group Ltd Division One and thanks to a 2-1 win over Bedworth Liberals, Kelvin Etherridge scored for Liberals, and stay ahead of Bedworth Travellers who beat Fuzzy Duck 9-2. Chetwynd Phoenix move up to third after they beat Attleboro Fox 6-2, while Bedworth Conservatives are up to fifth after beating Acorn 6-3. Scot Halls cored twice for Nuneaton Boro Sunday, but they eventually went down 5-2 to Bull & Anchor. 

Coniston are back on top of Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two thanks to their 2-1 win over Griff & Coton Manor. Ashby Road Sports were the days top scorers after they beat FC Miners 11-0 with Matt Mangiante and Harry Wileman both scoring hat tricks. Alex Ball scored two of the others, Jonno Fields, Nick Richardson and Chris Davies scored the singles. Morgan Lewis netted a hat rick as Bedworth Liberals Res beat Chetwynd Phoenix Res 3-0 while Collycroft Royal Oak moved up a couple of places after beating Ridge Lane Res 2-1. 

Attleboro Sports moved up to third spot in Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Division Three thanks to their 4-1 win over CJ’s Athletic. Haunchwood Sports Res leap frogged over Crows Nest Utd after they beat them 4-2.

Match Week 8

Saunders Hall take over top spot in Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two but were made to work for the three points by Griff & Coton Manor before winning 2-1. An own goal gave Saunders a 1-0 advantage at the break which they doubled with ten minutes left. Griff were awarded a penalty almost from the kick off but saw it strike a post before Rees Swain then found the net for Griff to set up an exciting finish. Ashby Road Sports also suffered the agony of a missed penalty when they lost 1-0 to Crows Nest Sports. Ambleside Res move up to fifth thanks to a 6-2 win over Collycroft Royal Oak. 

The top of the table clash in EJ Group Ltd. Division One went the way of leaders Witherley United who edged passed Bedworth Travellers 3-2. Scott Jurkiewicz and Kelvin Etheridge both scored twice for Bedworth Liberals as they went on to beat Attleboro Fox 5-2 and move into third spot. Mark Albrighton scored the other Liberals goal. Sam Jones, Callum Deeming and Daniel Laws all found the net for Chetwynd Phoenix as they collected maximum points from a 3-0 win over Drayton Res. Bull & Anchor moved up a couple of places thanks to their 3-1 win over Nuneaton Boro Sunday. Liam Parr scored the Boro Sunday goal. 

In the Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Connor Beasley’s brace and a single from Harry Flower saw Barwell Cricketers to their eighth win of the season from eight as they beat Haunchwood Sports Res 3-0. Swan Dive stay second after beating LNFC 18 6-1, while two goals from Jack Edwards and singles from Jenson Newey and Charlie Jones helped The Whitestone to a 4-2 win over Sunnyside Inn. Fourth placed Attleboro Sports lost ground after they were beaten 3-2 by Alties Athletic. Crows Nest Utd and CJ’s Athletic shared the points as they drew 2-2. 

Joe Miles and Connor Faulconbridge both scored twice for Poplar Athletic as they went on to beat Ambleside 5-1 and take over top spot in Cannon Sports Premier One. Drayton follow close behind in second spot thanks to their 4-1 win over Haunchwood Sports. Grendon were the other days winners beating Hartshill Sports 2-1. Mike McFarland scored the Hartshill goal.

Match Day 7

Witherley United have recorded back to back 9-0 victories in their pursuit of the EJ Group Ltd Division One title. This week they overcame Attleboro Fox with goals from Lewis Gudger 3, Jamie King 2, Marcus Cooper, Jordan Coles, Nathan Billington and Shaun Clarke. Bedworth Travellers moved into second after they also scored nine goals in beating Bull & Anchor 9-4. A 6-0 win for Bedworth Liberals against Acorn moves them into fourth while goals from Richard Horsfall, Jack Harding, Ben Court and Paul Brown helped Bedworth Conservatives to a share of the points in a 4-4 draw with Chetwynd Phoenix. 

There is a three-way tie at the top of Cannon Sports Premier One where despite the top two not being in action, Poplar move up to third spot thanks to a 2-0 win over Hartshill Sports. Joe Miles scored both Poplar goals with goal difference separating them all. Haunchwood Sports moved off the bottom thanks to their 6-1 win over FC Atack while Weddington Thistle collected their first point of the season after drawing 3-3 with Ambleside. 

The top three teams in Mark Blair Mortgage & Finance Division Two all won this week. Leaders Coniston won by the odd goal in five against Ridge Lane Res, Saunders Hall beat Chetwynd Phoenix 5-1, with Luc Stringer scoring for Chetwynd. Harry Wileman led the way with a hat trick for Ashby Road Sports as they went on to beat Collycroft Royal Oak 7-3. Nick Richardson 2, Jake Hughes, and Stu Heathcote added the others. A 2-0 win for Crows Nest Sports against FC Miners lifted them into fourth while Ambleside Res moved into mid table thanks to a 2-1-win over Bedworth Liberals Res. 

Conor Beasley scored all four goals for Nuneaton Trophies & Giftware Division Three leaders Barwell Cricketers as they beat CJ’s Athletic 4-1 and open a seven-point gap at the top. Second placed Swan Dive drew 2-2 with Alties Athletic while a 4-3 win for The Whitestone against LNFC 18 keeps them in third spot. Attleboro Sports join The Whitestone on 13 points after they beat Haunchwood sports Res 5-1 while Sunnyside stay fifth after losing 1-0 to Crows Nest Utd.
