Pete Smith Memorial Cup

History - 1973 to Present Day

The Pete Smith Memorial  Cup was first played for in the League in season 1973-74. The competition is "Open" to all Member Clubs "Second Teams".  The winners in 2022-2023 were DRAYTON FC Res, who picked of the trophy for the 8th time, in beating Ambleside  AFC Res  6 - 0 in the Final

Drayton FC Reserves 6 - 0 Ambleside AFC Reserves
Sponsored by FRANK PARKER BUTCHERS, DRAYTON RES kept a firm grip to retain the trophy won last term after a decisive win at the Pavilion.
After a close first half DRAYTON took control after the break with a hattrick from (Man of the Match) LEWIS COMMINS.
JACK BOFFIN, JOE McKEWAN and SIMON SHORT, scored the other goals.

RBILL CANAVAN, CRAIG WARD, BRIAN KING and MIKE SMITH.

Man of the Match

The "Man of the Match" was chosen by the Match Officials.MOM - LEWIS COMMINS of DRAYTON FC RES
His all round play was superb culminating in a Hattrick  for himself and an assist in the last few minutes for Joe Mckewan.

MEET THE TEAMS

The 2022-2023 Final saw teams from League One and League Two.
Drayton FC Res were appearing in their 11th PETE SMITH MEMORIAL CUP FINAL and with the win the 8th success, since 1985-86. on the other hand this was Ambleside AFC Res first final Appearance.  After a successful season AMBLESIDE  will be looking forward to 2023-2024 in League One, after securing the League Two Runners Up spot.  DRAYTON Res record this term includes winning the Vernon Baggott Memorial Cup and being Runners-up in the League One Trophy.
