League One Challenge Trophy

History - 1966 to Present Day

IN MEMORY OF JOHN WARD  1941-2024
The League One Challenge Trophy was first played for in the League in season 1966-67. The competition is "Open" to all Member Clubs "of League One".   The winners in 2022-2023 were COLLYCROFT ROYAL OAK WARRIORS FC, who picked up the trophy for the 1st time, in beating DRAYTON FC RES  5 - 4.

The 2023-2024 Final will take place at the PINGLES STADIUM -  SUNDAY MARCH 24th 2.00pm KO.
ROYAL TRENT FC and HEARTY GOODFELLOW FC are both appearing in their 1st LEAGUE ONE TROPHY FINAL and will be looking for their inaugural wins in the SCREAM ENTERTAINMENT Sponsored trophy.
Hearty Goodfellow FC Hearty Goodfellow FC, were formed in 2021 and operate a 1st & 2nd team.
Royal Trent FC Royal Trent FC were formed in 2020-2021 and are members of League One.

How they got to the Final

Hearty Goodfellow FC

Hearty Goodfellow FC received a BYE in ROUND ONE.

In Round Two, Hearty Goodfellow  FC edged out Coniston Tavern to earn a place in the other Semi Final. Kye Wilson, Jonni Biddle and Craig Ashby with the goals. Aden Moore and Daniel Richards were on hand to make sure Coniston pushed them all the way. Haunchwood Sports await Hearty in the Semi.

The Semi-Final saw them take on League Leaders Haunchwood Sports for a place in the final.  In a tense encounter goals from Danny Moreton (2) and Morgan Lewis were enough to see them progress 3-2.

How they got to the Final

Royal Trent FC

Royal Trent FC received a BYE in ROUND ONE.

In Round Two Royal Trent saw off Chetwynd Phoenix to win 4-1. Goals for Trent coming from Dom Bonner, Troy Baker, Connor McCallum and O’Briel with  Nyambayo. Dan Law replied for Chetwynd. 


Semi-Final, Royal Trent FC were the first club to secure a place in a Cup Final this season after a 3-1 win over Barwell Cricketers FC. Connor McCallum hit 2 and Michael Sadler the other for Trent. Cam Atkinson was on target for Cricketers.
