The Keith Lenton Memorial Cup 

The Nuneaton & District Sunday League are proud to support keeping Keiths's memory uppermost  in everyone's mind. The Keith Lenton Memorial Trophy supports this goal, with the trophy now in in its second year, was first played for in the League in season 1921-2022The competition is an  "Invitation Cup" open to all Member Clubs . The winners this season 2022-2023 were SS BULLS HEAD FC, who picked of the trophy for the 1st time, in beating BEDWORTH BANK FC RES  3 - 1 in the Final

KEITH LENTON MEMORIAL CHALLENGE TROPHY FINAL

With the sun trying to break through at the PINGLES STADIUM saw BEDWORTH BANK FC RES take on SS BULLS HEAD FC in the final of the KEITH LENTON MEMORIAL TROPHY.  The Bank started the stronger and were quickly on the front foot and after 4 minutes had the ball in the net from a header from Jordan Vallis, but the goal is chalked off for a foul on the keeper.

Luck escape for the Bull but Bank kept pushing forward Liam Roberts dragged his shot wide, and the deadlock was broken on 17 minutes, Liam Roberts breaks down the right flank, whips in the cross for Jarred Atkins to poke home 1-0 to Bedworth Bank !

Kyle Walker heads over for SS Bull, but Bank clearly are in control, but unable to build on their lead. And you guessed it against the run of play, SS Bulls Head are level on 38 minutes. A throw in to the feet of Ryan Brightwell who lays off to Josh Atkinson who curls the ball into the top left hander corner, 1-1.  Now the Bull have the momentum and its 2 in 3 minutes when Frank Goodyear unleashes a 25 yard screamer, 2-1 to SS Bulls Head.

Bank on top for 35 minutes but turn round a goal down, and the tide has turned. On 56 minutes, Frank Goodyear crosses from the right to Lewis Alleston whose diving header is straight at the keeper. All SS Bull now two successive corners Andy Summerfield heads the ball onto the crossbar, close on that ! The game is entering the last 20 minutes, penalty appeals by the SS Bull players is waived away by referee Peter Bell, but wait the ball is bobbing about, finally falling to the feet of Andy Summerfield at the edge of the box, and his crisp drive nestles in the left corner, 3-1 to SS Bulls Head.  Matty Atherton tries his luck from close range, keeper spills but no one on hand to tap in.  Last 7 minutes and Bedworth Bank are down to 10 men with a Red Card shown for violent conduct.  The final whistles see's SS BULLS HEAD FC, pick up their first Trophy since joining the NDSFL.

Congratulation also go to Referee Peter Bell and his team of Florin Condrus, Mike Smith & Craig Ward.

MEET THE TEAMS

The 2022-2023 Final features teams from League Three.
SS BULLS HEAD FC were appearing in their 1st KEITH LENTON MEMORIAL CUP FINAL winning at their first attempt against fellow League Three Club BEDWORTH BANK FC RES who were also appearing in the final for the first time.  After amixed season SS BULLS HEAD FC RES  and BEDWORTH BANK FC RES finished in the bottom half of League Three.
