History - New Trophy 2023
The The LUKE HENNEY & LEE WELLAND MEMORIAL Cup will honour the memory of Two "great
men" who have already inspired a fundraising first in Nuneaton when The Luke and Lee Memorial Festival 2022 was held at Ambleside Sports and
Social Club in August 2022.
Luke sadly
died after falling ill during an Ambleside football match in Coventry in
2015 and his devastated team-mates rally every year to remember him. This New Memorial Trophy will be in his memory along side that of Lee Welland, another much-loved and much-missed member of the Ambleside community.
In
September 2020, the courageous young man who lost a brave four-year battle against cancer. Both
he and Luke played for Ambleside AFC, and the Trophy is a mark of respect in both of their memory.
